چکیده

Lignin is a natural biopolymer present in lignocellulosic biomass. During paper pulp production with the Kraft process, it solubilized and degraded lignin then burned to recover energy. In this paper, solvolysis of was studied water water/alcohol mixtures produce oligomers monomers interest, at mild temperatures (200–275 °C) under inert atmosphere. It found that presence alcohol type (methanol, ethanol, isopropanol) greatly influenced amount formed from lignin, reaching maximum 48 mg·glignin−1 isopropanol as co-solvent. The impact addition various solid catalysts composed metal phase (Pd, Pt or Ru) supported on an oxide (Al2O3, TiO2, ZrO2) investigated. water, yield enhanced by catalyst particularly Pd/ZrO2. However, alcoholic co-solvent, only formation oligomers. Detailed characterizations products FTIR, 31P-NMR, 1H-NMR HSQC NMR were performed elucidate chemical transformations occurring during solvolysis. nature active catalytic specie also investigated testing homogeneous palladium catalysts.

Structural Characterization of Kraft Lignin for Its Green Utilization

Laboratory-obtained kraft lignins have been studied via elemental analysis (EA), 1H-NMR, FTIR, GPC to analyse the chemical structure. The kraft lignins were subjected to oxidation with H2O2 using Co(salen) as a biomimetic catalyst at mild condition (80oC, 240 min). The kraft lignins isolated from eucalyptus (EKL) and bamboo (BKL) had a low hydroxyl (oxygen) contents, a low molecular weights (~3...

Experiences of Kraft Lignin Functionalization by Enzymatic and Chemical Oxidation

Linear hydrophilic derivatives are expected to soften lignin and improve its utilization in composite applications. Oxidation by means of laccase in the presence of oxygen was employed in an attempt to functionalize commercial kraft lignin by vanillic acid-PEG ester and ether derivatives. Thielavia arenaria and Melanocarpus albomyces laccases at pH 6 and 8 were used. According to O2 consumption...

Preparation and Characterization of K2CO3-Activated Kraft Lignin Carbon

A series of activated carbons (ACs) were prepared by K2CO3 activation from kraft lignin (KL) that was recovered from papermaking black liquor. The effects of process parameters such as the activation temperature (AT), activated period, K2CO3 to KL mass ratio, and N2 flow rate on the characteristics of the final product were determined. The ACs were characterized using nitrogen adsorption, morph...

Isolation of Residual Kraft Lignin in High Yield and Purity

In this paper, we report on a novel residual lignin isolation method. Initially we demonstrate that, in order to cellulolytically isolate residual lignin in high yield, the cellulosic structure of the pulp should be exposed as much as possible. Consequently, we developed a two-step method that first uses a mild enzymatic treatment to render most of the carbohydrates water-soluble and remove hem...
